(Note: This post contains some spoilers from the Feb. 19 event of “WandaVision” titled “Breaking the Fourth Wall. ”)
We know that already “WandaVision” will factor straight into both “Doctor Strange as well as the Multiverse of Madness” as well as the third Spider-Man film. Yet this week’s episode might tie into two other Marvel Studios projects too.
The artificial commercial about an antidepressant called Nexus most likely tempted the fact that Wanda is a “Nexus Being” (more upon that below) and, within doing so, hinted at 2 important aspects of the forthcoming Disney+ series “Loki” as well as the third “Ant-Man” film, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. ”
A Nexus Being is a person therefore powerful that they can alter the basic probabilities of the universe, basically rewriting reality. A person who might be, basically, the focal point from the universe. Her powers were substantially stronger in “WandaVision” than they’ve ever been pictured in any of her previous appearances. In Marvel lore, every universe has one of these simple beings, which would mean that Wanda is the Nexus Being for your Prime MCU that we have been watching since “Iron Man” in 2008 (Earth-616 in the comics).
In the comics, one of the groupings that monitors Nexus Creatures is the Time Variance Expert, or TVA. It’s the business that Owen Wilson’s personality in “Loki” works to get, which ends up capturing the particular God of Mischief right after he portals away using the Tesseract during the Avengers’ period heist in “Avengers: Endgame. ”
The particular TVA is the multiverse’s oversight committee. They’re responsible for making sure no timelines are getting messed with (we suspect that “time heist” is on their radar) and have the ability to “prune” timelines considered too dangerous in order to exist. It’s probably simply no coincidence “Endgame” featured several tree/branch metaphors.
Loki and Wanda never crossed paths with one another in the MCU so far (and he’s still very a lot dead in the current post-Thanos world), but that doesn’t suggest the TVA isn’t conscious of her existence.
You want to know who another Nexus Being is? Kang the particular Conqueror, a major villain which will be played by Jonathan Majors in “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. ” The subtitle for the third “Ant-Man” film suggests the Quantum World will play a significant role, and all know from “Endgame, ” time and space function very differently at a sub-atomic level.
Until recently, the multiverse has just been briefly hinted from in the first “Doctor Strange” movie and during the Avengers’ time heist in “Endgame. ” But it appears significantly likely the MCU’s multiverse is going play a massive function going forward. Even though it was certainly not meant to kick off Phase 4 , that hasn’t stopped “WandaVision” from planting a few seed products as to where the MCU is usually heading over the next few years.
